Keyboard Crazy
by Keyboard Crazy

The information which comes with the product includes ideas for games by a number of different people who have found it useful in various classroom settings.
Teaching children the upper and lower case for each letter can be done using the different insets. However it does not teach them how to actually write the letters rather it can show the letter shape in both settings. Using the upper case inset and asking children to place the lower case equivalent and visa versa.
It can be used in different settings if a class has more than one of the product, for example in teams of children to see which team can put the correct letters in the correct places first and then allowing the children to practice until they all know the upper and lower case for each letter.
However this is only really helpful for the younger age group who are just learning the alphabet.
Another suggestion is to use a number of keyboards and do a type of relay in which the letters are placed one at a time in the correct place on the keyboard. This can be done ensuring that the child uses the correct hand for the correct letter. This would then help to teach the position of the keys on a keyboard.
I can see this being helpful in a classroom providing the class has more than one keyboard. I am not so sure how much help it would be in a home setting as children could become easily bored doing the same thing over again with no actual end product, when if they learn on the computer keyboard itself they can print out what they have learnt.
