International Conference On Autism

Date: June 15th, 2010

Venue: David Wilson Lecture Theatre, at the University of Leicester

Professor Paul Cooper of the School of Education, University of Leicester who will speak about AD/HD and autism, author of Understanding and Supporting Children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.

Professor Olga Bogdashina of the Ukraine who will speak about sensory issues in autism, author of Sensory Perceptual Issues in Autism.

Emeritus Professor Rita Jordan of the University of Birmingham, whose subject is severe and profound autism, author of Autism with Severe Learning Difficulties.

And we are delighted to welcome Professor Tony Attwood, from Australia (although originally from Birmingham), on his first ever visit to Leicester, who will speak on cognition in Asperger's Syndrome. He is a clinical psychologist and world expert on Asperger's Syndrome and the author of The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome. This is the first time these speakers have appeared together at any conference.

The tickets for this one-day event are priced at £200. But don't worry! There are five different discounts of £20 each and you can claim any number which apply to you. Discounts of £20 will be offered for:

1. Those who book before April 30th
2. Those who are unwaged
3. Members of the NAS
4. Those that are on the autism spectrum and/or the parent of someone on the autism spectrum
5. Parties of 5 or more (the discount applies to all 5)

The intention is that only professionals will have to pay full price for their tickets, and even some of those may get a discount.

The price includes a coffee and Danish pastry welcome, and a buffet lunch. There will be two refreshment breaks, when delegates will be free to buy their own drinks from University cafés, if they wish. Bottles of water will be provided for each delegate. There will also be a bookstall.

On the evening before the event there will be a champagne reception at the Belmont Hotel, priced at £35, for the first 30 delegates to apply. This will offer the chance to meet the speakers and have an early registration.

Those who wish to do so will be invited to take a table in the exhibition area on the mezzanine level above the Lecture Theatre. The price for this will be £50 for voluntary organisations (to cover costs), and £1000 for commercial organisations.
