Parenting the ADD Child: Can't Do? Won't Do? Practical Strategies for Managing Behaviour Problems in Children with ADD and ADHD
by David Pentecost

Another great book written form the UK perspective. David Pentecost is a family therapist based in London.

David presents practical behaviour management strategies in a down to earth easy to follow way using his program called ADDept. It includes advice and help to implement the program, from getting to spend special, non-confrontational time with your child to help develop a more positive relationship, a home points system which works on rewards for positive behaviour and how to start with building on the positives before going onto ways of dealing with the difficult behaviours.

David acknowledges the difficulties involved in living with a child with ADHD and is encouraging to parents by re-inforcing what we are doing right, very refreshing.

I like the way David, throughout the book, continues to encourage parents in positive language that ADHD is not down to bad parenting but that it takes special techniques and abilities to cope with our kids.
