Challenging the Image: Young People as Volunteers and Campaigners
by Debi Roker, Katie Player & John Colman

As more and more young people are portrayed as lazy, selfish and that pathetic - a major image problem and bad press this book tries to re-dress the balance.

This image is contradicted by those who work with young people who see a very different side - the caring behaviour, social awareness and the activities they undertake to help society.

Most of this is circumstantial and only seen by those working with young people or hearsay.

This book, based on a report for The Trust for The Study of Adolescents on a research programme that looked for facts and evidence to support this more positive image of young people. It shows a great for involvement in both voluntary and campaigning activities by young people - crossing many social, environmental and political issues, all over the country.

Indicating that the original stereotype people have is very different of how things really are.

Support and encourage a young people more - read this highly recommended book before making rash judgements.
