School Bullying: Insights and Perspectives
by Peter K Smith and Sonia Sharp
Well at last someone has recognised what a significant problem school bullying is and how it can have devastating effects on both those who are bullied and those who bully. This subject has always been so taboo in our society, something we knew was there but didn't want to accept.
The past few years however more acknowledgement has been given to this subject and its affects on children.
The authors are to be commended for brining together research which has been done and putting this along with ideas and strategies for working with these children to help enhance their lives. The fact that books are now coming out about the subject makes it real.
This book looks at the research into the nature and extent of bullying and the first UK evaluation of success of various strategies for developing school policies, classroom approaches and materials which can be used within the curriculum to highlight and help along with training for all staff from teachers to lunchtime supervisors to office staff to help improve the environment for these children. Essential reading for all those who wish to improve the lives of all.
