Seperating Losing and Excluding Children
by Tom Billington
Based on real life in an inner-city school to provide help, guidence and practical information to build frameworks for teachers who work with children of all abilities and backgrounds but who may also have various different learning styles to those provided by the current system and curriculum.
The author outlines frameworks, which can be implemented. To provide practical support to those pupils to enhance their ultimate chances of success.
Looking at many issues from different learning styles which can be difficult to accommodate within the mainstream environment, how to use varying and different teaching styles to reach these children and encourage success to the vital role of LSAs and how to maximise effective use of their vital role in the pupils and classrooms ability to run smoothly.
Looking also at how to respond to difficulty behaviour positivly and ways to work through these issues with examples of IEPs and success cases from real-life.
To conclude the author looks at what is starting to be implemented and what more needs to be done and researched to enable successful inclusure education throughout each level of a childs school life. Having used primary school as the main bases throughout the book the author looks at how to continue successes into high school years. I believe that if this approach were considered and implemented across the country life for our children would be enhanced. Policy issues vary so much in each Ed Auth that and more consistant National approach needs to be considered and implemented so that each Auth can draw on success of others so that there can be consistancy throughout the country which would make life so much easier for teachers, pupils and parents if they move to a different area.
