UK Research Project

Research study investigating the relationship between eating behaviour, weight, self-control and parent-child interactions

Dr Jackie Blissett and Carmel Bennett (Doctoral Researcher) sent us the following:

"Dear Parents,
There is a great deal of concern about our children’s diets and health. We are researchers from the University of Birmingham (UK) who are investigating the link between children’s eating behaviours and weight and their abilities to control themselves. In addition we are looking at differences in these links in families of children with and without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). We are therefore asking parents of children with and without ADHD to complete some online questionnaires. Research has indicated that children with ADHD may be more likely to become overweight and obese, however, little is known about the mechanisms behind this link. We are hoping to gain some insight into possible reasons for the differences in the risks for overweight and obesity through this research. We would really value your input. If you would like some more information about our research and/or if you would like to take part in this online questionnaire study please click on the link below. This will take you to a more detailed information leaflet and the questionnaires.

Thank you for interest,"
