Hypescheme International Entry System (HSIES)

Institute of Psychiatry

Hypescheme International Entry System (HSIES)

The HSIES is a PC database system designed around the Hypescheme International interview schedule. It allows the entry of data taken from a variety of assessment sources, using either the interview schedule itself or its scoring sheet. For each subject, it yields a diagnosis sheet indicating any presence of a number of disorders determined from either the ICD-10 or DSM-IV rating criteria (users choice). The HSIES also includes a built-in glossary containing term definitions and clinical guidance notes.

The HSIES is not designed for performing statistical analysis, but does allow the dataset to be exported to a range of popular software packages including spreadsheets and statistical databases.

The following file formats are directly supported for export:
ASCII Delimited text
ASCII Fixed
dBase [III+,IV,5]
Microsoft Excel [3,4,5/95]
Lotus 123 [v1, v2]
Corel (Borland) Paradox [3.x,4.x,5,7/8]
Quatro [DOS]
Quatro Pro [1,6,7/8]
WordPerfect 7/8/9
WordPerfect Merge File
The following file formats are supported indirectly by creating ASCII command files:
SAS [all versions to date (Jan 2000)] - SAS command file
SPSS [all windows versions: 6.x/7/8/9] - command syntax file
STATA [5,6] - do file

Acquiring the HSIES
The HSIES can be downloaded directly from this server as a compressed ZIP file (17.2Mb).

Installing the HSIES
Once downloaded, open and extract the contents of the zip file into a temporary folder (the zip file contains a directory structure which must be recreated when unzipping the files - somtimes referred to as folder names), then run SETUP32.EXE and follow instructions. Once installation is complete, delete or empty the temporary folder.

System Requirements
HSIES runs under win9x and NT4 and requires approximately 70Mb of free disk space for installation. A high screen resolution (1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1600x1200) is recommended with 1600x1200 being ideal.

Updates & Patches
Updated files / patches are available from the Update / Patch History page.
