Thanet ADDers Newsletter

Volume 2, Number 4, November '98

Important, Please Note

This is a copy of our local group's paper newsletter sent out to members of Thanet ADDers. For our main online homepage click here for adders.org. Much will have happened since this newsletter was sent out, so check adders.org for up to date information.

NEWSLETTER AND ADULT MEETINGS

Due to lack of funds and support we are having to cancel adult meetings. The bi-monthly newsletter will now only be produced quarterly for the same reasons.

Trip to Chessington

This years day outing to Chessington was not as popular as last year, however those who came along had a great time. If anyone has any ideas for next years outing, provided we manage to obtain the funds to run one, please let us know where you would like to go.

Talk By Joyce Fain

The talk on 14th September was unfortunately a disaster. Due to problems with the trains Joyce was unable to get here however maybe this was not a bad thing as very few people turned up to support the event this is a great pity as the support of members is vital if we are to continue to raise awareness to ADHD in our area. Many thanks to those who showed their support.

YOUTH CLUB

Following discussions with K.C.C. we hope to arrange for the Youth Club to re-start at Quarterdeck, Zion Place, Cliftonville Ater Christmas. Times will be Friday 5p.m. - 6.30p.m. All children members will be welcome to attend both sufferers and siblings. The cost will be £1.50 per child to cover costs of hire of Quarterdeck and refreshment will still be available free of charge.

There will be more facilities available for the children to use including: Table Tennis, Pool, Volleyball, Badminton, Unihockey, Bench Football, Basket Ball and occasionally the Bouncy Castle will be available. To hope to be able to have a K.C.C. Youth Worker present at meeting to help us to get the Youth Club running on a proper footing, but we would still appreciate any offers of help from parents on a rota basis. All parents will need to have the relevant police checks and these cost £20, we are hoping that K.C.C. might fund these but so far we are not to sure. Please get in touch if you think you may be able to help.
