Pre-Publication of NICE Guideline 2008

The new NICE Guidelines for ADHD are due to be officially published in September 2008

Currently The Final Draft of the Full Guideline is available for its Pre-Publication Check. This is to enable Stakeholders to send in any final comments with regard to any factual errors.

Obviously comments made are not to include things that are considered for further investigation they are purely for reporting any factual errors and have to be made via Stakeholders - general public comments are not permitted to be submitted.

However as adders.org are among the list of Stakeholders and have input throughout the whole consultation process we have now posted a copy of "The Final Draft of the Full Guideline" in its "Pre-Publication Check" phase which visitors can now read direct from adders.org, along with the same Pre-Publication "Appendices to Full Guideline"

The following statement is taken direct from the website for NICE which explains about the Pre-Publication stage and what will happen after this. It does state "that some changes may be made in the final published version, for reasons other than factual accuracy". So please be aware that these files are not yet finalised and can still be changed so should not be read or quoted as being the full new guidelines.

The Pre-publication check dates: 26 June - 16 July 2008 with the Anticipated publication date: September 2008

After the closing date, July 16th 2008, the NCC, GDG and NICE will meet to consider the stakeholders' responses. If any corrections are necessary, the developers will revise the full guideline and resubmit to NICE. All reports of factual errors and responses will be published on the NICE website with the final guideline. No action will be taken upon receipt of personal, individual comments and late comments. Please note: The pre-publication check will take place before editing of the recommendations is finished. Therefore there may be changes in some recommendations in the final published version, for reasons other than factual accuracy.

adders.org cannot accept responsibility for any of the above information as it is stated that alterations can still be made to the Final Guidelines by NICE before its Final Publication hopefully in September 2008 - also this date may be open for change by NICE.
